Health Care Reform
The health care reform bill is currently being debated in the Senate. The Senators hope to have debates over the bill out of the way before the holidays. I think that it is going to be difficult for a universal health care system to be passed. There are two major problems with it. First, it is a more socialist idea and most Americans aren't very fond of that. Secondly, big insurance companies will take a big hit. If the government offers a better deal for health insurance, people will move away from the big insurance companies, causing them to lose business. I think that the idea of having all Americans covered by some type of health care is a good idea, but the steps currently being taken to achieve this aren't very promising.

I agree that it's going to be very difficult to get a universal health care bill passed just because of opposing viewpoints in government. Republicans don't believe in funding abortion or illegal immigrant healthcare whereas Democrats do. Just those 2 issues in themselves are big obstacles to overcome.
